What are the similarities and differences between ESD insoles and anti-static Insoles?

The difference:

´1. Anti-static shoe insoles must be used with anti-static safety clothing, otherwise it will not be able to exert a reliable effect! The ESD insoles  can be used with work shoes

´2. Anti-static shoes insoles can not only eliminate the accumulation of static electricity in the human body, but also prevent electric shock from power sources. ESD insoles do not have anti-shock performance. In other words, ESD insoles cannot be used in places where there is a risk of electric shock.

´3. The occasion used for ESD insoles and anti-static insole is different. The place where anti-static insoles used is an anti-static ground, and the place where ESD insoles used is a ground that can conduct electricity.

ESD insoles

What are the principles and precautions for anti-static insoles?

By wearing anti-static safety insoles, the human body is “connected” to the earth, that is, “grounded”, in order to achieve the purpose of static electricity discharge, successfully control the negative impact of human body combined with electrostatic charge on production lines, so improve product qualification.

ESD Insoles

Principles

According to research, if the human body is insulated from the earth, the relative humidity of the environment is below 50%, static electricity will stay in the human body for a long time, day by day, the more the static electricity gathered, thus making the human body electrostatic potential is also getting higher.

If at this time in a dangerous place prone to fire and explosion, you need to wear anti-static shoes/ insoles, in order keep safe.

The principle of anti-static insoles is to make the body connected to the earth via anti-static shoes/ insoles, so as to achieve the purpose of safely discharging the electrostatic power carried by the human body, which is currently the most effective and reliable method. It is worth mentioning that when wearing anti-static shoes insole, must wear anti-static clothing, anti-static insole/socks, then get the best effects.

Insoles using conductive materials, people wearing conductive shoes and  ESD insoles can form an electrical conductivity with the earth, equivalent to walking barefoot on the ground, at any time to release the human body static electricity, to prevent the body from carrying a long-term charge (static electricity) on the human body cells, beneficial to human health and longevity

Currently conductive insole technical process : stitching containing conductive metal wire, conductive wire through the upper and lower surface of the insole, to achieve the effectiveness of electrostatic conductivity.

However,

the effectiveness is not so good, because it only relies on conductive electrodes lines on the forefoot of insoles , it is easy to lead to poor contact with the conductive electrodes or contact area is not enough, thus a bit blocking the electrostatic discharge flow.

At present, the most common anti-static insoles on the market have five types, leather material (forefoot stitching with metal conductive wire fiber) type, PU (polyurethane) or EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer) material (forefoot stitching with metal conductive wire fiber) type, PU or EVA material (forefoot with rivets to the insole below the small piece of metal mesh and insole fixed) type, PU or EVA material (forefoot rivets) type, environmental protection high polymerization cotton (PolyU, Hypertherm and other materials to add anti-static agent hot pressing stamping molding) type.

No matter what kind of material anti-static insoles, the conductive principle is generally through the conductive medium (such as metal conductive fibers, rivets, metal mesh, antistatic agents, etc.), through the conductive electrodes in the midsole or anti-static materials connected to the outsole, the body’s static electricity into the earth
